“Someone Who’s Honest”
When Lizzy Joe was eight years old, her mother asked her to go to the store and buy some spaghetti for the family’s dinner.
She gave Lizzy Five Naira which she stuffed in her pocket and left for the store.
The store was a small house with one room for selling groceries and candy. Lizzy eyed the candies that looked so tasty! She wrapped her fist around the money in the pocket. Why not buy the candy instead and make up a story to tell her mother? – Lizzy pondered in her mind. Lizzy Joe’s mouth watered as she pointed at some sugary suckers and red hot candies she spent all of the money on candy it tasted yummy but on the way home she didn’t feel happy inside on getting home and her mother asked her where are the spaghetti. Lizzy hid the candies behind her back but couldn’t lie instead she told the truth. Her mother scolded her but warned her against such a bad attitude because she told the truth.
