A TERMLY PUBLICATION OF EARLY HEIGHTS COLLEGE ALAGBOLE – First Term 2021/2022 Academic Session

With a heart full of joy and gratitude, we send our highest regards to you and your entire household and we say a compliment of the season to you all. We thank God Almighty for seeing us through this 1st term of the 2021/2022 academic session and the year 2021. We appreciate Him for the gift of life and the enablement to carry on with our academic/extra-curricular activities. This journey would not have come this far but for your support. We say a very big thank you.

We promise to always be up and doing in making sure that the best in your ward(s) is not only achieved but sustained.

We appreciate the dedication and commitment of our ever-ready members of staff and their willingness to leave no stone unturned towards giving their very best to our scholars. In the same way, we appreciate our scholars for yielding to our life-shaping process which has led to noticeable daily improvement in their lives.

ACADEMICS

The 1st term 2021/2022 academic session began on the 13th day of September 2021 and we have witnessed a lot of academic and co-curricular activities. Scholars’ performances this term were wonderful as reflected in their weekly test and terminal results. The co-curricular programs were excellent as well. This shows the commitment of our scholars, as they have demonstrated diligence in their studies. We implore parents not to relent in their effort at the home front to encourage their ward(s) to study hard when they are at home. Our dear esteemed parents, be rest assured of our commitment to the academic and moral excellence of your child [ren] under our care.

SURROGATE.

We are pleased to inform our esteemed Parents that in addition to our daily assembly and moral talk, Mentorship and counseling sessions are now of paramount importance in our scholars’ lives. These sessions have been of great blessings to our scholars as they demonstrate noticeable improvements daily in their academics as well as their moral lives.

DISCIPLINE

Our esteemed Parents are fully aware of Early Heights College’s stance on discipline. Discipline is part and parcel of our life-shaping process. This has been made possible over the years through the support of most of our parents. We appeal to some of our parents who still find it difficult to give us full fledge support in this area to do so as our stand is informed by scriptural counsel which says, train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will not depart from it (Proverbs 22:6). Let’s endeavor to keep an eye on our children and join efforts with the School towards correcting undesirable behavior. This no doubt will help our children to be socially adjusted and walk on the path of rectitude.

USE OF PHONE.

This is to bring to the notice of our esteemed parents that the use of the telephone is highly prohibited in the school and for no reason must any child come to the school with one, for it will be confiscated by the school authority and will not be returned to the owner until the end of the session. In case there is the need to pass a message to them as Parents, you can call their class teachers, Surrogate parents, or the Principal.

PUNCTUALITY TO SCHOOL

We have noticed with delight that our scholars now come to school earlier than before. More gratifying is the excitement with which they come to school every day. This is a great feat which we attribute to the commitment of you all our esteemed Parents. Let us endeavor to keep up this good work. It is said that punctuality is the soul of business. Once our scholars are used to it now, it will become a great asset to them in the future in leadership. Every student is expected to be in school not later than 8.00 a.m. as all are expected to participate in the morning Assembly which begins at 8.00 a.m. Parents of children who consistently come late to school may be invited to see the Principal for an interaction.

OVERVIEW OF FIRST TERM 2021/2022 ACADEMIC SESSION.

The new mode of operation introduced by the Government with a strict emphasis on enforcing stringent measures to curb the Covid-19 diseases is still been strictly followed by students, Parents, Staff, and guests visiting the school. We hereby implore you to monitor the activities of your ward(s) and also ensure that they stay dedicated to their studies during the holidays. We wish our scholars success as they prepare for the examinations.

ENTREPRENEURSHIP SKILLS:

The concluded term witnessed the introduction of an expanded curriculum – entrepreneurial skill meant to help our learners as academics is not enough and to awaken and develop them in various entrepreneurial skills. The total idea is by the time they will be graduating, they have fully developed entrepreneurship minds and job creators rather than looking for one.

This is a termly event created for Parents to meet teachers/ check their books and moral conduct of their wards and together make decisions that promote an excellent child.

This term’s Open House was observed with an impressive turn-out from the junior school, although it can be bettered. The majority of Parents with children in senior classes are encouraged to better their attendance as it is an important opportunity for the school and parents to improve the development of our students academically and morally.

The teaching/learning process was supervised by both internal and external inspectors/evaluators as teachers were checked to ensure all aspects of teaching methodology, innovations are properly followed making sure the right values were inculcated to learners and that they were given equal opportunities to participate.
